VCDS - Derby area for EPB re-set
I had one one my EPB motors fail in the on position, and I had to get the RAC out to help. He removed the o/s epb motor and would back the calliper which meant I could get home. The only dash light I had on whilst driving was the amber EPB failure. I have now replaced the motor with a new ebay sourc...

Re: Steering knock / Aircon
Hi Craig, did you resolve the knocking by replacing the inner track rods? I think I might have a similar issue, but might not be quite as bad. Interested to know how easy they were to change, I.e space to access and undo whilst rack still on the vehicle.

Re: A/C problem
Fingers crossed, I think I have sorted out the problem. I managed to replace the clutch shear plate after a visit to local tyre shop who managed to unscrew centre bolt using air gun. I then took plate off to find that splines that drive compressor had been completely worn away. I have photos but not...

Re: A/C problem
I have managed to take the 3 screws that bolt the shear plate to the pully wheel, however no joy on the centre bolt into the shaft of the compressor. The screw just turns with no way of holding the shaft. Does anyone know if a cordless impact wrench would shift it? I don't have one, but could hire o...

Re: A/C problem
Acording to the Haynes manual the receiver/drier is situated at the end of the condensor and is behind the front grill. To get at it the front bumper needs removing and the "lock carrier" ie the front of the car incorporating the headlights, upper grill, radiator, intercooler and a/c conde...

Re: A/C problem
I have contacted VW customer service and they appeared to recognise that there is an issue with these a/c compressors. To get some good will from them they wanted the car checking out at my local VW dealer. The dealer charged me £69 diagnostics to confirm that I needed a new compressor and receiver...

Re: A/C problem
Many thanks for the attachment. It looks very useful. I have now had a close look at my compressor and I do have the centre bolt that is protruding by 2-3mm. The bolt turns without turning the pully which would indicate that that the plate splines have worn away. I don't have an air gun to undo the ...

Re: A/C problem
Hi ,
Tried to PM you but to no avail.
Will try again when I have more time. Not used to this format.
Looking on ebay there are the clutch plates available to buy for about £40.

Re: A/C problem
Hi, I am new to this and it looks like I have the same car with the same non performing a/c. I wondered if the instructions can be sent to me. I had the system re-gassed as I thought it might be out, but on re-gassing the garage showed me the testing machine and explained that the low pressure side ...
