It would be a good idea to check the subframe mounting bolts too.....I had one break on a GL5, that had been clonking on initial acceleration and braking and I didn't find the culprit until it was too late.......it was a subframe off job to retrieve the broken bit of bolt still in the chassis....!!

I watched this to the end.......
It didn't make anywhere near what its worth......
Someone got a real bargain......hope they realise it and save it.....

Surprisingly, all the card shrouding is still there, its just I think the car has sat around more than its run over the years.....its still only got 74K on the clock.
I will sort it, no worries about that.....the old girl deserves it...!!

MIne does exactly the same thing.

I had a GL5 years ago that did this and I cured it with a better rad. They tend to get sludged up on the 5cylinder cars and the narrow rad can't cope after a good few years.

I'm finding it difficult to get a good rad.

I had two Audi 80 series 2s, both GLS' , back in the late 1980's.......Cracking cars....!!

I bought that GL5 estate last Friday and it is a good one.
There is an Audi 80CL on here right now for £995........not quite a Passat but almost........It looks a right cracker too!!
