I had Good Year F1-s on the front. I got around 18k out of them. Grip was very good. I changed the rears for cheap BCT and I regretted it immediately! Got some Pirellis P7-s now and they're good.

GSF don't stock their brand only (vetech). They do oe brands as well. Which are a bit dearer but as I get a very good discount I nearly always go to GSF.

I had the same problem. Bonnet microswitch was the culprit. When you open boot or bonnet, do you get the coresponding light ON on the mfd? If not, you've narrowed it down to one of them. Good luck

From what I've read on the net, the 505.01 offers better cam protection. I use the quantum 5w40 anyway.

It can be done with vcds. Desertstorm (Karl) did it for me last year. Very pleased with it!

I've done past 130mph in Germany (on dash). I think I could've still squeezed a few more mph out of it. Mine's done 136k everything stock awx engined estate.

5w40 vw spec 505.01 is better in protecting the camshaft!

I've seen 52 reg ones as well with the 130bhp engines. Personally I like the post 2000 shape more.

Mine's an estate, but should be the same. I removed it, sorted out the leaking washer pipe and cleaned it. That was 2 years ago.

I had the same problem. Cleaned the microswitch , wd40-ed it and problem went away.

What are your thoughts on the newer pd engined ones???

Bigest headache is taking the turbo off. Unless you have access to a ramp its gona be difficult. Good luck.

I just changed my chra (ebay Â£99). Its been ok since, 5k. No more oil seeping from egr either. So personally I'd say just change chra.

What if the number is 7.22684.00? Is it still compatible/good for an awx engined passat?

Spray/paint them BUT not the pad contact area!

They were pagid! Coated but got rusty very soon after fitted.

I got discs and pads from carparts4less for Â£30.

Can't afford the Eibachs. Was thinking of FK 40mm springs? They're around Â£60 comparing to Eibach's Â£140-Â£160 from Germany.

Mine are not leaking. Just thinking that as it's done 130k and it's a 9 yr old car they would be tired? Cheers.
