I can't afford to get vcds so I wanted to get one of those cheap ebay vag things. They state that it would work on a Passat, but only with some specific NEC numbers. I just don't know how to find out about my eeprom/software (presuming it's that what it stands for) on my cluster. Thanx again.

If I can find one, yes. For the moment I want to add a reversing camera and puddle lights. My cluster's part no is 3AA920971A.

Thanx for trying to help. I'm trying to find out what system does my dashboard have,something like what I mentioned above. I've got an executive style passat. My dashboard is black and white with nav display. So how would I find the eeprom numbers? Would I need to get the cluster out? Thanx again.

So what system is your's? As in: NEC24+64 or something like that? Cheers.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know how to find out what type of dashboard do I have? Mine's a 14 plate Passat Executive Style. Could it be something like NEC+24C23? Cheers.

They should reset automatically! Check by turning headlights on at night and see if they self centre/position!

Do not twist the ballast!!! There's a black ring of some sort locking the bulb/ballast to the back of the headlight! Turn the ring clockwise then pull the ballast out!

Passenger side: twist/turn the locking ring clockwise, unplug the plug behind the bulb, pull the bulb out. Leave the car with ignition off for 30 min before you do this!

The seller's got back to me. He's asking me to leave my car with his mechanic for a few days so the mechanic can investigate! Few days??? The leak is visible from underneath ( engine tray off), so why a few days?
I can't be without the car for long! What do I do?

You don't need to get the bumper off! It's tight, but you can move the fan aside and then get the alt bolt out.

You have UP to 6 months to try and resolve any disputes with seller. Paypal gives you up to £500 protection as far as I know. Good luck.

Discs are Brembo pds Ferodo. Never been on a track, driven sensibly always cos I have the kids in the car! Don't really want to change the discs but I'll have to if they're warped! Cheers.

Thanx for the replies everyone! I had a look at the calipers/pads today and they look ok. Pads are about 40% worn, discs I'd say have just started to have the lip. I'll have my work machanic to check them tomorrow! Really puzzled! Cheers.

Thanx Harryspadge! I had the mot done 2 weeks ago, and the tester said that there's brake imbalance on the front! Shouldn't that cause a continuous steering shake though? I mean during braking rather than after?
