Re: You know your getting old when....
You had a golf in 1990 or it's built in 1990, because after 20 year ownership you must sold it back in 2010 then  Anyway, always wanted on of those 16v GTi golfs. Had Scirocco '84 myself as first car. Loved it, had a lot of work done to it, full respray with OEM body kit colour coded etc. ...

Re: You know your getting old when....
I had the Mk2 16v GTI in 1990 when I was 21 that cost 750 insurance, mind you my first car was an 85 XR2 at 19 then a Series 1 RS Turbo at 20, bloody S1 was nicked 3 times and eventually never came back so insurance paid out. Never bought another Ford (Oh a new KA once, shudder). Most of mine have b...

James, he would love someone to do it he's worried he'll willy it up so if you could I would send the map, yours may be different so if you get his ECU number I'll send the file, not all B5.5 have the same ECU number.

Re: 180bhp vs 160 remap?
Yeah I have a nice 180 map I ran on my sport for 40k with no issues, it went well, I had 3 different maps on it and cycled through them and always felt the 180 one suited my style, it's around 175-180 with 290ish lb ft of torque but for a 6 speed with larger clutch, the car had 240k on it when I sol...

Re: B5 Passat woes..get rid or stick with?
I had a Honda Accord 2.2CTDI 2007 with 145k on it, timing chain was rattling it's tits off and that's a 1k job, got rid quick, I would rather do a timing belt than that chain, Honda's are great when they are running right but when things go south it's expensive. Keep that AFN, bulletproof engine tha...

Re: Fuel filter OEM number?
Another way I used is fill the filter to the brim and remove the inlet pipe off the regulator, once filled refit the regulator and seal and clip and I used a syringe to pull fuel up the inlet pipe to the regulator and refit, fires up immediately.

Oh, and suprisingly despite the fact no man should be seen in one, TT drivers might be among the very few audi drivers that usually dont behave like absolute c***ts that should have been murdered at birth. :-bd Lol, I ooze manliness so I can pull it off and you are right never been buzzed by a TT l...

I'm really surprised how cheap these are getting considering the equivalent Audi S3 is 3-4 times the price, doesn't make sense to me?

Didn't know Karl bought one, I won't be going down that route just keeping it serviced and standard, I still have the Civic Type S to run around in at the moment as well.

So since my B5.5...........
Since I had my B5.5 which I held on to I haven't really found a car that I liked as much, I had the B5.5 3 years and did 50k in it and loved every minute. I have had a Skoda VRS diesel , 2 Honda Civics diesel, a 93 Merc E220, Beetle TDI in the last 2 years, although I held onto the Skoda for nearly ...

Re: PD130 setup for towing/AWD
The maps can be identical across the 130's but the checksum and ECU number have to match, I usually do a lower torque one for the AWX as it's clutch is smaller the AVF 240mm can take more torque, the map I ran was for my own but it was my car, normally AVF would be 165-170 and around 280 to be safe ...

Re: PD130 setup for towing/AWD
I didn't Gaz but I reckon it wasn't far off, compared to the VRS at 200BHP it felt like it had more torque but PD gives more of a whack than a CR, CR is more petrol like, the guy I sold my Passat to drove the VRS and reckoned it was a bit faster so I'd guess it was 170+ and near the 300lb ft but ya ...

Re: PD130 setup for towing/AWD
180bhp and 300lb ft ish is what I ran on my AVF, plenty of torque for towing, mine was a GQ ECU as well so if you want a copy of my modded map I can send it to you, ran it for 40k with no issues.

I put some EBay cheapies on mine about £120 for the full set, did about 20k on them before I sold the car, they were fine and passed the next MOT with the new owner.
