Thanks guys, seems quite positive so far! I'm planning on recovering all the grey bits with fabric, and throw a couple of home made mods in there, hopefully it will look good once I'm done!

I'm thinking of recovering my headlining in black, as opposed to the current light grey. I have a black dashboard, black carpets, etc. Would a full black interior be too dark? I feel it's potentially one of those things that looks good in your head, and that you might regret as soon as it's in...

How do you manage that?

Today I finally fixed my seat airbags, by soldering the correct plugs to the car loom.

They could look quite good on a blue car actually, I look forward to seeing them on!

I saw a set of these a while back on german ebay and was serioulsly thinking about getting them, however seeing them on the cars above I'm not so sure anymore... What colour is your car Polo mk3? I'd like to see what they look like on a silver one.

I'm going to do some work on the suspension arms and plan to renew the bolts while I'm at it (the pinch bolt needs to be done anyway and most of the others are quite corroded). Are the bolt kits available from ebay worth anything?

I remember thinking they looked quite bland after the more aggressive lines of the B4. It has aged well though I think.

No I just swapped the speakers for the OEM ones.

Right, I've had these in a little while now, mounted in the doors with plastic adaptors. I'm really happy with the sound they produce, it's a decent mix of clear mids and trebles, however the bass is weird. It can be nice and loud when the car is parked, but as soon as I'm driving it's all cancelled...

That's actually not a bad plan, i'm sure I can find a suitable plastic sheet somewhere.

I must get round to doing this as I want to repaint and reroute a few bits to make the engine bay look good, I need to find somewhere to do the really dirty work though as I don't think the engine has been cleaned in 230k miles and I don't want all that mess on my drive...

I'm looking at tyres myself and I like the looks of the Michelin Pilot Sport 3, anyone had these on before? In 205 55 16 if that makes a difference.

Where's the ODB plug on the B5.5? Mine's currently hidden under the armrest until I need it, but ideally I'd like to move it to its proper place...

New speakers finally fitted, although this just highlights how much work I need to do on the door cards! I'm ot entirely happy with the finish as it stands, but it's only temporary anyway.

I'm undecided on colour. I'm planning to do a bit of bodywork to get it looking good, that means I will need to do bits of paint. I'm thinking I'm going to change from the slightly boring silver and repaint the whole car, but I can't come to a decision on what colour to go for. I want something easy...

Thanks Graeme. Are the dampers on the sport model different to the standard ones? or should I look for suspension for/from a V6, or something else?

The dampers on my B5 are starting to feel a little tired (they have about 230k miles after all), so I'd like to take this opportunity to upgrade them. I'd prefer not to spend much money if I can avoid it (like anyone I guess), is it worth getting the parts from a lower mileage sports model? I'm not ...
