Re: Black interior with black headlining, too dark?

Quick update on this, it looks really good once recovered. I will take some pictures when the weather allows. I just need to do the lights and handles in paint, cover the sunvisors, and dye the door seals. Now time for a cheeky request, does anyone have a small amount of black fabric dye I could hav...

Aircon pump on PD engines

I've just remembered I still need to change the aircon pump on my car, the pulley was making one hell of a noise so I whipped the belt off last september, never thought about it since...

Do I need to be specific when looking for a pump, or will anything from a TDI B5/B5.5 fit?

You do according to the Haynes manual, these should be supplied with the pads too.

I fitted a set of Hankook V12s after reading the recommendations on here, I'm very happy with them so far. do you want to change because of something you don't like, or just to try something different?

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

I finished the main alcantara trim (still needs some finishing touches though), comprising headlining, pillars and center console. I just need to do the door cards and it should be good. I've also changed the bumpers and one wing, so there are no dents left in the car. I just need to spend a couple ...

I was struggling with the filter on my last service (plastic casing), I could not get it to move using all the common tools. I bought the Halfords tool linked above and it came straight out.

I've been looking at this and fancy making my own, as MDF is cheap and I'd need to re-cover it anyway. Are there plans available on the net, or is it simply a case of measure and hope?

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

It was a fuse as suggested, I didn't realise but this fuse is also linked to the electric windows, they didn't work either! I'm not sure this has fixed the lights yet but it's probably all on the same system...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Today I removed a lot of trim from the car with a view to improve it, including the headlining. One problem now though, the interior lights and remote central locking do not work anymore... What have I broken? if interior lights not work sounds like door locks Thanks, if it makes any difference the...

Re: Engine code displayed on VCDS

well it's not anywhere obvious on the side of the head, I haven't got a flat bit for it to be stamped on! Lots of cast markings, but not what I'm after. I might go to VW with my chassis number, then they can confirm what it's supposed to be...

Engine code displayed on VCDS

This may be a stupid question, but here goes. Everything I can see in my engine bay (labels) points to my engine being an ATJ, but when scanning with VCDS the end of the part code is AJM. Both engines were fitted to this model during the time my car was built, is there a definite answer somewhere?

I changed from B5 SE to B5.5 Sport seats, I find them much more comfortable. My seats were really old mind you, that probably had something to do with it, but I find the firmer seats much better.

I'm just over 14st at the moment, 32 yo. Not allergic to anything, although there may be something to do with dairy or bread going on, not sure yet. All I know is I feel better if I limit how much I eat, and try not to have bread or milk if I can help it.

Hotel in Dover?

I'm planning to catch an early morning ferry from Dover (7am), but coming from Harrogate and going to the Alps I'd like to spend the night in a hotel before the ferry, to break up the drive. What would you recommend or avoid in Dover, or on the way? I'm only looking for a night's sleep, so the hotel...
