Re: PD170 Not your usual overheating thread.
Unless it's boiling up in the block, venting vapour off (invisible) and letting you know when it's not enough to keep the temp. So, something stopping flow... Blockage or insufficient pumping... Could test the pump again?...

Re: In practical terms... What does this switch do?
It stops the boot being able to be opened from the switch next to it. Yes you do need to lock the seats back for it to be worthwhile. Afaik It does not affect whether the boot is locked / openable from the handle outside

Re: PD170 Not your usual overheating thread.
Was it AFN or AVF you had to sort of disconnect the heater matrix and bleed the air there by the bulkhead? Don't know what the drill for this motor would be. Any way to test the WP?

Re: B6 BKP 2.0tdi Sport 2nd Gear hesitation ( fuel filter?)
Does it have the fuel filter at the front of the engine bay, maybe with some torx screws at the top? Mine I unscrewed those and lifted the top off, pull filter element out and put new one in. Some say take out the fuel from there as well as could be water/dirt at the bottom... Top up with fresh fuel...

Re: Climatronic questions?
All dampers have oil inside. Gas dampers have oil inside and gas as well. if they make that pssst sound on hits it could be the gas has leaked off and the oil is foaming/cavitating. The gas pressure acts on the oil and stops the cavitation and foaming.

Don't let your car idle wen cold it's not good for it. Drive normally without heavy demand on the engine until up to temp. As it says in the manual

I try to chimney the house: open one window upstairs and one downstairs ... Air flows through the house like a chimney. Seems more effective than opening everything upstairs, particularly when there's no breeze like recently.

Re: flat spost and acceleration problems
Should be nothing much below 2000rpm. Could be a few common things. I'd be thinking tank pump, fuel filter, sticking egr valve (leaks off boost pressure) sticking vnt mech, dirty/slow maf, split or loose boost hose near intercooler. A good scan from vagcom would give good info too...
