Some vehicles deliberately have devices at the front which change the airflow pattern like that in a beneficial way.. They tend to reduce back flows or big circulating eddy flows for a smaller effective frontal surface area. So worth checking fuel consumption to see, rather than assuming, in absence...

So is it deposit / stain on the plastic tray ? Seems to me there was something leaked in the boot like thinners or IPA or brake fluid or something?

Yes you might be forcing fluid into the abs unit. It's normal I think to open bleed nipple when winding back. If you're near Chester send me a pm if you still struggling as I have a wind back tool here

Got this back just now, pump was damaged at end of impeller, lip at end which sits in the head had worn off. Bearings were tight and not completely smooth, no evidence of play. Belt in good condition. So it runs and goes up to temp ok, only drove 5 - 7 miles so far. Coolant was flushed at bottom hos...

Aux pump... Coolant pump ... Water pump.. Is one electric to cool engine after switch-off? Anyway this is for full belt and WP. Not aux pump afaik.

Stranded near stretton... 20miles from home. Tow truck coming... Eta 90mins.

Took the top cover off the BMR pd170 and can hear water I'm adding to header tank quietly glugging and trickling its way out down onto the under tray.

Seems behind the timing cover.

So on way home and check coolant chime on dash so pull off m-way and slow down, screechy belt noises. Find somewhere 1/2 mile crawl there and put water in and get wet feet.....!!

Does this mean my water pump has died and timing belt off to repair ?
