Re: Error airbag
Hi, I am now having the same passengers side air bag error issue. I can reset the light using VCDS but the light comes back on after a few days. I had a look under the passengers seat but couldn't see any yellow connectors. I understand VW airbag connectors are coloured yellow. Do you have to remove...

Drive shaft bolt torque setting
Hi ,I have a 2012 Passat blue motion 2.0 diesel. Does anyone know the correct torque setting for the drive shaft bolt. The bolt has a 12 pont head. I have read the torque setting varies depending on the bolt head fitted. Thanks.

Diesel cranks over but will not start
My 2012 2.0 diesel started fine this morning, but now it cranks over but will not start. If I let it cranks over a few times a low oil pressure warning appears. I had a problem with my towbar electrics this morning so I checked the fuses in the drivers side fuse box. Fuses were ok and the problem wi...

Re: Rear vents behing boot upholstery
After investigating a bit further, I reckon the water was getting in through the two rubber grommets that fit around the boot hinge curved metal tubes. If you lift up the rubber grommet the top of a rubber drain tube is just visible.. I think the top of the drain tube was blocked with crud. My humbl...

Re: Rear vents behing boot upholstery
Hi I have the same problem with my Passat B7 saloon. When I opened the boot an removed the carpet upholstery at the drivers side The rubber foam type material on the boot floor was absolutely saturated. It looks like the water is coming in from the plastic vents at the side of the boot. Has anyone b...

Clicking noise when braking
When I brake I can hear a single clicking noise. I think it is coming from the front of the Passat. The brakes work fine, but the single click is annoying. The clicking noise does not happen when the car is stationary. I thought the noise may be a loose front brake or some play between the pads and ...

Correct sequence to bleed Passat B7 brakes
Hi does anyone know the correct sequence to bleed Passat B7 brakes? Usually I would bleed passenger rear then driver rear then passenger front and finally driver front but I heard this may not be the correct sequence to bleed Passat brakes.

Inside of discs badly corroded
I knew I had plenty of life left in my front brake pads, but every time I braked it sounded like my pads were worn down to the metal. When I stripped the brakes down I found my pads were hardly worn but the discs were knackered. The front showed some corrosion but the rear was very badly corroded. I...

Re: Routing a cable through firewall to battery
When I connected the wiring for my towbar,I ran the power cable from the fuse box along the driver side tucked under the plastic door trim then under the rear seat into the boot. I connected the towbar wiring via a bypass relay.

Re: colour of drivers side reverse wire
Hi seve, thanks for your reply. I think the saloon wiring may be different. I have 4 wires going to the drivers side rear light and two of them have additional wires connected with scotch locks when I connected my tow bar. I know one wire is my RH indicator and the other wire is rear lights and brak...

colour of drivers side reverse wire
Hi, can anyone tell me the colour of the drivers side rear light reverse power wire on a 2012 Passat B7 saloon. I think it is the blue/black wire but would appreciate if someone could confirm if this is correct. I can't get a decent ground connection to use my test light.

Re: Rear light wire colours B7
Hi, this is how I connected a towbar via a bypass relay to my 2012 B7 saloon. hope this helps. I fitted the bypass relay near the driver side wheel arch using double sided tape to secu...

Re: How do I remove the rear bumper?
When I removed the rear bumper from 2012 saloon to fit a tow bar a couple of the plastic locating tabs broke. When I re-fitted the bumper it went back OK, but I would be wary about removing it again. When I get around to fitting parking sensors to my Passat, I will try to fit them without removing t...

Re: The (Famous) dashboard rattle
When I picked up my one year old passat it had the dreaded rattle. The local VW dealer acknowledged it had a rattle and fitted foam tape inside the small drivers side glove box. This seemed to work for a couple of days, but did not cure the rattle. After a bit of trial and error I packed a small pie...

Anyone fitted parking sensors to a passat with a permanent tow bar. I would like to fit a set but am concerned the tow bar may set them off. I noticed when I fitted the towbar that there are markings on the inside of the bumper for the original VW sensors. If I was to fit parking sensors I would rat...

I will probably leave it as the longlife service as the fully synthetic oil apparently is fine in the car for 2 years, but as dubber suggests I will be changing the air filter every two years.

Re: Removal of rear bumper
To remove rear light clusters from a saloon: Through access panel in boot trim, remove plastic nut/spring assembly and wiring harness from the rear of each and pull rearward, you should then see the two torx screws under each light cluster. Not sure if this is the same process for an estate

Passat 2.0 diesel two year long life service
My passat is coming up for it's first service. The car will be two year old with 19.000 miles. I was surprised to find out from the VW dealer that the two year service only consisted of an oil and filter and pollen filter change. (£210)The fuel filter is changed at the 40K service and the air filte...
