Toms Red 06 Octavia vRS

Well thought I may as well ge a thread up. I bought this car on 20th March 2008 with 19k on the clock, in red with 17s, and standard other than the jumbo pack (electric rear windows, jumbo box and dual zone climate control). Before I even collected the car, Stu (from http://www.octavia-vrs.com"...

Re: roof rails polishing, now finnished with pics

No they are WAY more than £250, well over £500 IIRC, although the caps are about a tenner each.

I doubt they will match mind, as the VW bars are chrome, and these are more of a brushed steel, quite different finishes really.

End of the day though p/x price wasn' too bad, but I cant afford the effort to finding standard brakes and wheels for it :( And cheers ...

May try ebay.

Got a punter coming for a look today, if he doesn't buy it then it will be going on the 'bay and Autotrader too.

Bought me a Mk2 vRS, 2.0TFSI in red. :D Can't wait to pick her up next Saturday!

Why hasn't my car sold :(

Is it the price? The colour?

This is probably one of the best on the market, 100% faultless and all the common faults have been fixed...

Any feedback welcommed - I need a sale by next Saturday!

The MFA readout is hardly the epitomy of accuracy though!! A useful site is http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ Simply pop in the details when you fuel up, copy the image to your signature and you get an automatically adjusting average consumption readout... FWIW my mfa seems about 1mpg out, but mine see...

Nope, absolutely no increased risk of spills as when the cap screws on the system is sealed. The system remains balanced by venting into the filler neck in the case of expansion, but this cannot go past the filler cap as its sealed. The only way you can spill diesel is through the overflow tube when...

Take the carpet out!!

The seats are simply removed with 2 13mm nuts, then its just a case of removing the centre console and the kick panels. By all means put the seats back in with the carpet out. Its paramount you get it 100% dry.

Yep, this would take the DIY mechanic best part of an hour a side, so £100 for main dealer labour sounds reasonable-ish.

As for the special too, its just a caliper rewind too, nowt special (about £15 for a Draper one IIRC).

I'd say the first thing to do is to remove the battery and clear the plenum drains. Check the pollen filter housing seal and do the fix on this if needed. I'd take the seats and carpet out personally, and get the carpet bone dry before considering putting it back in the car. Leave the CCM on a radia...

I like the look of the Estate, but the Saloon definitely looks nicer imho. I think the Saloon is slightly nicer to drive too, and less creaky inside on grounds that there is a nice bit of bracing missing from the Estate that the Saloon is blessed with. Although the opening is small on the Saloon, th...
