Re: B6 Passat and Pioneer AVH-X3700DAB

Bought a dab aerial but haven't had the chance to fit it. Does work though as I tried it, but didn't have the time to run it behind the dash so just left it for time being. It's def worth going the DAB route in my opinion. FM reception is still poor to average. Didn't look any further into improving...

Re: B6 Passat and Pioneer AVH-X3700DAB

Is that not just a single version of the dual adaptor I've bought?

I have ordered a DAB aerial. Just hadn't arrived as quickly as the HU. Where is the connection you mention? Do I need to splice in behind one of the boot trim panels or does it already have a cable run behind the dash?

B6 Passat and Pioneer AVH-X3700DAB

Decided a year of 5 Live, Talk Sport and the small handful of CD's I had was enough so upgraded my RCD 300 for something a bit jazzy. Spent ages deciding and ended up with the Pioneer X3700DAB. Seems like a good headunit and generally works fine, but having a few teething issues. Hoping someone migh...

Re: Led lights & HID

Can anyone point me in the direction of any walk through for changing side light bulb or is it straight forward? Mate who fitted my hids said it was gonna be too fiddly to do in the time we had.

Do I need full blown VCDS to..

Or more accurately find someone with it to...

Switch from "unlock drivers door" to "unlock all" with one fob press.

Turn off seatbelt warning chime (triggers when I have my gym bag on the passenger seat).

Or can I do it with the free/cheap cables.

Re: Hail stone damage

Have heard a few stories of insurers declaring, some pretty young cars, write offs due to the hail damage. Sounds like it's not economical to repair or replace multiple panels and it's too much work to put to smart/localised repairs.

Fingers crossed it gets sorted for you!

Re: car washing advice.

If you follow the instructions and take time to get used to the process, you don't need to fear using a less water wash like ONR or Wolfs Mean Green. I've washed a fair few black and dark cars using either of those and followed up with polish and wax. You will however need to carry a bucket of water...

TDI 170 Front Pads

Anyone got a recommendation, or suggestion, for anyone who produces a decent/upgrade road pad for the TDI 170 estate? Just had my car remapped (Superchips Bluefin) and they are being shown up as a bit of a weak spot. Admittedly I'm still in the honningmoon phase so will calm it down in shortly, but ...

Re: Cream interior deep clean

If you haven't got a wet-vac or extraction machine, I'd probably make some enquiries with local valeter/detailer about getting it done. You could do a decent enough job yourself, but it'd probably be quite time consuming and you'd have to be mindful of not getting the material too wet or you'll have...

I've been using this for a little while now and really like it http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/wolfs-chemicals-tire-and-trim-restore-gel-black-out-1L.php?manufacturers_id=71 Can be used as a spray, that's how I've been mainly using it and haven't been experiencing any sling from it, but also works wel...

Re: Dash cam fit question

I think insurers which offer discounts may have a preferred list of devices which will qualify you for a discount, but they will let you use any camera (have seen debate as to whether smartphone footage is viable) for recording which you could use for evidence to present to your insurer. There are s...

Re: Dash cam fit question

Were you videoing the camera footage off a laptop screen or something? lol, it looks a bit floaty at various points in the video. I don't think I'll be putting a speed stamp on when/if I get mine installed. I know that speed can be determined from the GPS position and timing, but I think I'd rather ...

I'm under the impression the are too and the way they're tested, and in a lot of peoples situations, it will reflect that. But cold starts and short stop-start journeys just play to the worst of any non-manual gearbox.

Re: Fuel Range. B6 Passats.

Also, iirc, yours is an automatic, which will have a detrimental effect to your fuel economy. Particularly if you're primarily an urban driver. They tend to hold into gears for longer until the engine and fluids are warmed up. I've not had mine long, but when I fill up my range shows at around 600 a...

Given the gesturing from the driver that got prosecuted, I'm guessing there was some build up to the incident. Not saying it's right what he did, by any stretch of the imagination, but would be interesting to see the the full event.

I've bought one of these the other week. Haven't got around to fitting it yet though. Newer model to the one gizmo has linked to. http://tinyurl.com/n3nf2ks Here's a review for it.
