Jumpy boost, not massively jumpy, seems to pull smoothly when on boost. Starting the car, it is smoky and smelly, could this be the particulate filter? How much for onw of those roughly.

Our B5.5 had an advisory for particulates at the last MOT and has recently been displaying a slight loss of power as the turbo spools up (around 1.5k rpm) together with a noise I can only dexscribe as jingling/tinkling, then the turbo spools up and we have normal power. Good piece of info unityn - thank you :) tangerine terror NP mate, Good friends with Ray at Rayvern and have juiced 3 of my own cars (mazda pickup, suzuki SJ, Chevy) as well as helping to juice and air a few more in my time. never done a passat though although from talking to Ray its pretty easy.

Oh and the contracts are typical monopoly stuff, same reason Apple doesnt want you jailbreaking the things. As a desible item they can keep prices inflated (I mean come on £75 pm for a free 16GB iPHONE!) Thats £900 per year! Anyhoo work are getting them for us, had a choice of that or Nokia E71 or...

Dave - Was this with the headlight removed?

I understand you need to remove the bumper to do this, how big a job is bumper removal on the B5.5.
