Well this is 90mins in, going ok so far!
I'm now at work.
Can I leave the metal cross beam in place to get at the heater matrix and evaporator?

Re: B5 dashboard removal - heater matrix :(
Ha! K seal doesn't feel right to me :) I don't have aircon (well it's been removed) so all fine there - in fact I'll be removing the evaporator while I'm In there I watched a YouTube vid by a northern chap called road runner (funny video actually with the amount of swearing, link below) and actually...

B5 dashboard removal - heater matrix :(
Hi All!
Right my heater matrix is leaking so I've bought a replacement
Such a shame the dash has to come out
What's the best way please to minimise what I remove?
Do I need to remove the steering wheel?
Many thanks

Re: Alloy front hubs and ATE calipers /312mm discs
Ok thanks! So I can't use my normal calipers? Are the newer type calipers bigger/better? I actually have porsche 4 pots on at the mo so might just buy the custom carrier brackets to mount these Just shout if you can suggest any nice brake options - the W8 items sound a bit heavy/complicated to me So...

Alloy front hubs and ATE calipers /312mm discs
Hi All Which caliper carrier brackets do I need to make my standard ATE calipers work (312mm discs) when using alloy front hubs with the larger carrier bolt spacing please? I plan to fit the lighter alloy hubs off the A6 C5, to my B5, and hoping the standard A6 carriers off this C5 model suit? Or do...

Re: Help Identifying Turbo
Yep that's a bv43
Nice upgrade
Just replace with another or your remap might be asking too much boost for a standard item
If you also post the reg plate someone on here can probably tell you all the mods it's had!
Be sure to get the same xxxx702H item as shown in the photo

312mm discs - do i need 68mm centering diameter and 46.5mm height?
Hi All Need some new brake discs for my B5.5 with 312mm upgrade. GSF have two types of 312mm x 25mm discs - overall height 49.9mm vs 46.5mm and 65mm centering diameter vs 68mm Which do I need please? :) On GSF I cant use my reg plate as it doesn't think I have the upgrade, but ECP seem to say I need...

I meant tyres scrubbing on full lock due to geometry issues rather than touching arches (so the toe being wrong etc) and how this might be affected if the driveshaft lengths were wrong, although now I see they're the right length!

Re: DRIVESHAFTS: Do 4motion fit a FWD tdi?
Coming back to this 4years later... :) Looking at changing my 4motion tdi B5.5 front driveshafts as the cv joints might be on their way out.... Does anyone know if the 4motion front driveshafts are different to the FWD items, other than being a lot Skinnier? Is the length the same? The car has had B...

When you say power supply do you mean internally within the unit?
I've not looked at the wiring at the plug end (in the wall) as I presumed it wasn't this

Re: Grinding noise from front driver side?
Front right caliper and guide pins replaced with new and no improvement With caliper/pads removed, when I spin the disc (locked to hub) it gets tight once per revolution, to a point where if you stop the disc in the tight position, it's actually Quite hard to get it rotating again when pulling at th...

Re: Grinding noise from front driver side?
Hmmm the caliper slide pins don't have boots on!
Must have been like that for the 4 years I've had it... naturally they're a bit rusty, maybe seized? I'll get them swapped when I find a 7mm Allen key!

I'm pretty sure it's just the normal play in the steering rack. No knocks or rattles!

Front wheel movement in 3/9 o'clock position
Hi All, I have a B5 and a B5.5 Passat. Jacking up the front wheel (just one side at a time) and rocking the wheel hard in the 3/9o'clock position I get movement on both wheels on both cars. If I rock lightly there's no movement. I presume there is supposed to be an amount of steering rack play, whic...

The website still has the two different types of ATE caliper as mentioned in my first post (mac lee you say it's corrected but it's not?)
Also the 6 different brake codes, that can't be 6 different calipers?

Two types of ATE Calipers?
Hi All, Eurocarparts have these two RH front brake Caliper options for my B5.5, both stated as 57mm piston ATE to suit a 25mm disc, but £50 price difference. All I can see in the photos is the hose attachment point is the opposite side (if pictures are accurate). Did Vw do the ‘same’ calipers, but o...
