Re: Reversing Camera/Sat Nav HeadUnit + OEM Parking Sensors
I've got a Sony XAV 602BT in mine, the buttons light up red and are an almost perfect match to the interior lights. It has a reverse camera input, and also another wire which goes to the reverse light power source, so hit reverse and it automatically puts the camera on. The sat nav is optional (whic...

Re: How to: Interior Footwell Lights with a bit of a twist
It's all good, the only thing I would have done differently is create it in a word/pdf document then uploaded here, nothing worse than seeing a how-to few years down the line and all the pictures have gone >_< Yeah I'm with you there. Luckily I'm too lazy to clear out my Photobucket so there's almo...

How to: Interior Footwell Lights with a bit of a twist
Hi guys, I've lurked on here for a while since getting my Passat but never really had anything of interest to post. I'll be doing a separate thread for by B5.5 Estate, but I thought I'd start with a how to guide for footwell lights. Yeah I know foot well lights have been done before, the difference ...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?
And today I wired in my footwell lights, in such a way that they both come on when the entire light is on, but each side comes on separately with it's respective map light. Something a little different

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?
Paid £35 for a pretty much new W8 light and adaptor loom, and got it fitted Also worked out how I'm going to wire my footwell lights too it.
So much for not messing with this one!

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?
Gave it a good wash and wax yesterday, and put the bike on the roof today so I could cycle back from dropping it off for big service and MOT, with various bits I want looking at too. Cycling back damn near killed me though, and I reckon the bill will probably kill my bank balance ha!

Re: Passat TDI 100bhp
I think the 130's got a different turbo and injectors. I could've just read that somewhere though! I'm probably going to map mine to around 130 / 140. I don't need lightning power, but a bit more torque and economy would be nice. I'm averaging 47mpg with a suspect tensioner pulley

Re: Passat TDI 100bhp
I've got a B5.5 TDI 100 Estate, can't really fault it. It's not the quickest of things, but it's got a good amount of torque and never has any issues. I tend to drive mine fully loaded with gear, and last night I towed a friend's Corsa 30 miles on A and B roads, lots of up hill, and it pulled fine a...

It's on smooth roads as well though, and it's a constant whirring. I'll get it sorted eventually

Re: Metallic noise
No difference on corners, I whipped the front nearside wheel off yesterday and the disc looked like it had seen better days, quite rusty around the edge and definitely worn. Not taken any measurements but even just on a visual check they look like they're not far off. Scraped some of the rust off ar...

Re: Metallic noise
CV is intact and there's definitely grease in there. It sounds brake disk related, whilst it stops absolutely fine and the pads looks like they've got life left in them, the disk looks like it's seen better days. So it could be the rusty lip of the disk fouling and lightly rubbing something. MOT's i...

Re: Metallic noise
Cheers Karl,
I'll have a look at that when I get a dry day. My dad suggested it could be CV related, but I'll check the pads too.

Metallic noise
I've noticed a strange noise when I'm driving along and wondering if anyone's any idea what it could be. It sounds like it's from the front near side, and it sounds like metal rubbing. There's no pulling to any side under braking or acceleration, and it's more noticeable under light load when mainta...

Have you got a link to the lock Gaz? Can't find them anywhere. I can find actuators, but not locks... unless I'm being thick.

Yep, it had the leak, that explains it all! I'm guessing the microswitch comes with the boot lock by default?

Re: Bizarre tailgate issue
So it's not the actuator itself? oh fiddlesticks!, I found a brand new OEM one for a tenner
How easy a part is it to get / fit?
And many thanks too!

Bizarre tailgate issue
Hi guys I promised I've searched for this, but I keep drawing up at a blank. I've got an 03 B5.5 estate, and when I unlock the car and open the boot, eventually it locks itself on it's own accord. Other symptoms it's giving are that there's no warning on the dash to say the boot's open (works on all...

Newbie with a B5.5 wagon
Just here saying hi from Manchester! Been lurking for a few weeks now as I'm back with the VAG group after a year with a Mercedes A Class CDi (don't judge me!) Picked an '03 plate B5.5 1.9 TDi 100 estate up recently, SE spec, Inki Blue with one owner, full stamped up service history and just under 1...
