good info.i used masking tape around the tyre then newspaper.i used halfrauds paint gived a good finish.the art is to let each coat dry about 20mins before ading the second coat.

i have just noticed a strange banging noise coming from under the pollen filter.it happens even when the engine is off but the ignition on :? what are the pipes underneath the pollen filter housing? its seems to be coming from there.i have been told could be to do with the air con or climate control...

what do you think?

seems ok sanded smooth then plastic primed x2 wet n dryed normal primer x2 wet n dryed then coloured n laquered

i used a orbital sander perfect for the job then the last bit by hand.wet n dry 1200 grit on the primer before the satin silver.i am going to do the front lower at weekend taking the bumper off.its alot easier to take the strips and inserts off so there is no masking to do.also did it all in my gara...

ive had my 2000 b5 for nearly 5 years the best car by a long shot.passed every mot except last month (cat).ive spent aq bit modding but the most reliable motor i have ever had.i dont want to part with it also can get 40mpg going steady to work.not bad for a 215bhp car

cheers lee i have emailed vagparts so will find out tommorow.i know you can get the primed doo strips from them with the chrome strips but are pricey.

just done the lower rear bumper pleased with the results.i dont know wether to take the bump strips off or not? or maybe buy new ones already smoothed?if so does anyone know were i can get them from? i am going to take off the front bumper tommorow and spray.

cheers i bought plastic primer,satin silver and laquer.really pleased with the results great match.i only did the rear bumper strip but really pleased.i will do the side bump strips through the week then get some pics up next weekend.there is alot of preping to do but well worth it.

i am just getting all the paint ect to colour code my ssat.i always thought mine was relex silver,just checked in the boot recess and is lb7z.i have checked it and is satin silver can anyone verify this before i go ahead and start ordering paint? cheers.
