Re: Ugh.... servicing.
I always go om the side of caution with the torque wrench and start at a considerably low torque and work my way up slowly. I got the car back at the start of the year and first job was to clear all the drains, re-gasketed the ecu, replaced the whole cabin filter housing, sealed the bonnet relase ga...

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
Does the Haynes list a torque figure for the oil filter housing (... and the sump plug? - not that I plan to remove it).

Great, so that just leaves reseting the dash warning but I'm sure a bit of searching will turn up a solution.

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
Perfect, thank you...... also found a couple of YouTube videos covering it exactly - where they also break the dipstick so will be very aware of that as also mentioned earlier in this thread. do you just pop the extractor in the dipstick hole or in the filter housing? vids... https://www.youtube.com...

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
Don’t pour 5L in as you’ll either wreck you’re engine or have to drain some back out. I thought you were meant to pour it in till it started coming out the filler :hyst but seriously, thanks. when you talk about the housing tool is it just one of the strap wrench or something more specific? also an...

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
Never thought of a PD Passat as particularly difficult lol, more the easier end of the scale. Im guessing you havent also factored in an oil filter housing cap socket thus far. From the way you put it yes the fuel filter is probably overdue, 1 - 2 years per change very roughly. The TPS price isnt t...

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
I didn't either, I said I wanted some service items and he ran up the list..... GSF site seems good - idiot proof
Is the fuel filter really a requirement or is that a consult the book job based on milage?
£24.17 for both Mann filters at gsf

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
Just got off the phone with the local TPS in Crawley.... for the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, sump plug he reckons £81.85 which seems more than I expected. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-PASSAT-00-05-1-9-TDI-PD-DIESEL-SERVICE-KIT-OIL-AIR-FUEL-5L-ENGINE-OIL-5W40/152158708732 the link abov...

Re: Ugh.... servicing.
If there’s one near you, you would be better going to TPS (Trade Parts Specialist) and buying 5L of Quantum LongLife 3. About £18. Genuine VW oil. 54 Passat Wagon PD175 99’ Audi S4 Avant 2.7 QTO ;) You mean actually go somewhere and talk to a real person, I thought this was the internet age :) than...

Ugh.... servicing.
Hi, I know this has (probably) been done to death but to be honest every time I look into servicing my 1.9 TDI 2004 AVF my head hurts. Its just ticked over to 95k on the clock and I know I really, really (....really!) should sit down and read the Haynes I bought but I just haven't had the time. I've...

AVF Auto Gearing....
Hi,
might be a simple thing but I thought the B5.5 AVF auto was a 6 speed yet the tiptronic only goes up to 5?

Headlights to ignition live
Hi, Just a minor annoyance - or that i was previously spoilt but is there a straight forward way of getting the headlights to turn off with the ignition or would it be a laborious re-wire job? One of my previous cars could change power source by fuse position.... that said it was for the cig lighter...

sounds very...... invasive.
I ran my finger round the rim the other day - very black and sooty so will have a clean at some point to put on a good show not that it would make much difference. that said I've got 11months to go.
