towbar
just wondering if anyone has the dimensions for a towbar to fit a 2008 estate, sure they are all the same(est and saloon), the length of the fixed bar going from right to left, size of the box section(that the towball fixings fits to ) and the length and width of the two arms to attatch to body(I ha...

Re: Rear wheel bearings
I have been through this scenario with my Passat Estate 2ltr Diesel Bluemotion and had the sensor and then the wheel bearing changed after a time the fault came back again. I have been in the magnetics industry for the last 7 years and was able to look at the bearing that had been removed and check...

Re: Rear wheel bearings
I am afraid you will have to fit a complete hub and bearing unit probably cheaper from TPS rather than VW, definitely recommend a genuine one, I think I paid around £80. It is a sealed unit and the abs pickup ring is somehow built into the back part of it (no visible ring, the back is kind of rubbe...

Re: B5/5.5 wheel bearing removal tool diy
I bought a £50 bearing extractor / installer kit off e-bay a few years ago now expecting it to be poo but it is as good as gold. I've pulled out and drawn in about 12 bearings with it now on various family cars. Also good for sundry "bush" removal. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23Pc-Front-Wh...

Rear wheel bearings
just wondering if anyone has changed the bearings in the hub flanges on a B6 2008, if so what size of bearings(do they have a magnetic strip in the bearing ?) did you use to fit the flange, easier to get bearings up here rather than the complete hub and abs ring, I have also found in the past with o...

Re: SOFTWARE AND CABLES
thank you for that, I have a problem with speed on my line due to being over 3 1/2 miles from the exchange and a copper cable, so I think this option is out for me, back to the drawing board I think, pity as it looked a fairly good option, i like the idea of the Bluetooth as well

Re: SOFTWARE AND CABLES
There is an alternative, take a look at OBDeleven, £60ish and works like VCDS I've used it on my 2017 Alhambra and my 2004 Passat. Sent from my TA-1033 using Tapatalk Aware of it but not seen it first hand, its more make generic and its hard to believe it has the breath and depth of capability VCDS...

Re: SOFTWARE AND CABLES
to mindriot and alan gunn,i have done a bit of research on the vag com cable and you both are on the mark with the reviews about it, so will either bite the bullet and go for the ross tech with vcds lite software, other thought is this, any comments appreciated https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-CAN-PRO...

cheers for that, will give it a try when the snow has stopped and it's a bit warmer, i have no wish to use it for coding, more to do fault checks, i have never had a problem with op-com or inpa and a few others i have used up till now as long as you accept that they are clones and have limited use, ...

Re: B5/5.5 wheel bearing removal tool diy
On my kit, no, just a washer. I put a good few drops of oil on the threaded bar though to help things along. Spanners on the extractor tool might not give enough leverage. I have two 1/2" breaker bars, 450mm long and 600mm long. I've braced to the floor using the 450mm (if that makes sense) an...
