How about with 245 xl tyres?
What is the clearance like behind the arch and on the strut?
I have 18j x 8 et42 wheels that I had on my b5.5
I had to fit 5mm spacers as they touched the strut, I've now sold the 5.5 and was considering fitting them on my b6

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
its now sorted (I think) the rad died last year, I put a k-seal in it to get me through, it lasted another year so I replaced it about a month ago when I noticed it had started leaking again. the head gasket has been the cure, although I couldn't see exactly where it was gone I presume there was a s...

Re: car wont reach normal temp
Most leads on ebay come with the free version
Or you can download it from the website, there's a link on here somewhere
I'm sure somebody will be along to direct you to the right post but wither way you still need the obd lead

Re: car wont reach normal temp
Buy a data lead and use the free version of vag com,
It'll cost a tenner to find the info you need,if you want to go further, you can pay for the full version which will give you more
Defo worth doing, reset your own fuelling etc

Re: car wont reach normal temp
I had cos failure about a year ago, my needle stopped moving intermittently, when I checked on vag com my temp was -130 degrees or something similar, this didn't change regardless of the engine temp, if your sensor is close enough I'd imagine it's working fine, when they go they get crazy readings T...

Re: car wont reach normal temp
I've sort of gave up on reaching full temp too, a question I asked was if there was a high temp stat available which would be suitable for winter, basically to make sure the coolant heats up for longer before opening, I believe this would help to reach 90, nobody seems to have the answer Diesels do ...

Re: car wont reach normal temp
mine has been doing it recently too, top hose warm bottom hose cold, I checked everything the same as you, from what I can gather (from a few members on here), your car wont reach 90 degrees in this weather unless you give it a bit of stick, I had a thermostat that was seized closed, still only reac...

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
I changed the header tank cap, changed the header tank, still leaking. it was definitely coming from the overflow on the header tank, none of them cured it so I assume its being pressurised, ive just had the head gasket done. not sure how successful its been yet ive only done 20 miles since, ill go ...

I've fitted the blanking plate today and removed the vacuum pipe from the top and plugged it up, oil leak has gone, yayyyyyyy
Seems to be a little smoother pulling and the car feels lighter during acceleration
Not sure if it's gained any power but I'm almost certain I've lost mpg?

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
I've just drove 80 miles and lost 3 litres of water, halfway thru the journey I looked underneath the car and seen few drips, I opened the bonnet and saw some dripping from the overflow in the expansion tank, the water temperature was around 45 degrees due to having no stat installed, does anybody i...

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
well my level dropped again, I lost over a litre of water somewhere, it was just above maximum last night at this time, 14 hours later i drove the 25 mile tip to work and its below minimum, I presume this has to be head gasket but I want to prove it before it gets sorted, I had this theory that if I...

Re: oil leaking from throttle egr??? tdi 130
Don't block those holes on the EGR valve. The reason that the EGR's leak oil is that there is an O ring that wears on the shaft of the EGR valve. Karl. ive only just noticed this post (I must be blind) so blocking the holes on a working egr is bad, and a deleted egr, not so bad but still bad, but o...

Re: oil leaking from throttle egr??? tdi 130
ive been reading up on egr delete and theres loads of conflicting versions on what is best to do, obviously I can see the benefits of buying a full egr delete kit with the tube etc, I don't want to go this route just yet because I may have worse problems lurking underneath. this is predominantly to ...

Re: wheels
ive ran with both 225 and 245 18's for a few years now, my 225's don't rub the arches but my 245's do, (but only on the right hand side, and that's because I suspect I have a tdi sport spring on the right and an s spring on the left) they all make the car ride higher I think the difference in total ...

got my delete blanks today, is it best to fit the blank at the bottom of the pipe rather than the top?
I presume this will also help air flow by removing a large channel of gas flow from the system
cheers

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
the reason I was concerned about bottom hose temperature was because I couldn't prove/disprove the circulation, today ive removed the stat, and drove 25 miles home from work, temperature barely reached 57 degrees but both hoses are warming up now (as they should), also at idle there is a strong retu...

Re: 1.9tdi 130 mystery coolant loss
ive just topped up and checked return but its impossible to get it to temp in this weather, ill remove stat tomorrow and try again, that way i can eliminate/prove the water pump,
it should even recirculate when cold if its removed?
