I noticed mine's a little sluggish lately. I'm only using the car to take my wife to work nights at the care home - then she walks home.
So I've started going home a slightly longer way to put some juice in the battery - it seems to leap into life now!

Cars just passed it's mot yesterday- just needed a new front tyre - got my mechanic to put a new battery in my wife's key fob.
No problems since.

This is helpful info as immobiliser active popped up on my b5.5 today and then cleared after locking and unlocking the car via the fob.

My options were slightly limited as my mechanic although time served VW/Audi, doesn't do any welding!

Here's the broken part that came off my car today. My mechanic assured me it couldn't be welded!

I had exactly those symptoms when I first got mine, and it was the exahust flexi. So a good call there. You will see signs of it leaking around the joint. The vin on my 2002 passat 130bhp tdi is 0.90 - does that mean it may have a better chance of passing it's next test??
