I had similar issues which flagged up codes P236 and 238. Initially thought MAF sensor but turned out corroded wire to ecu due to water in the plenum.

Gents the outcome/fix for this was a corroded connection on the ecu. Thankfully no turbo replacement but a lot of faffing with MAF sensor/connectivity etc. Hope this helps others

I've tried booting it and whilst this was possible after a restart to get limp mode off it is now clicking back into limp mode more quickly during normal driving and especially when you put engine under strain.

He did scan and say they were all 'turbo related'. Will get a rescan and post results here for comment. What's bothering me is is the turbo vanes are stuck how does restarting the engine 'unstick' them?

I had this issue on a 2011 dsg and it is cured by slamming the door closed a couple of times. I didn't believe this fix but it has worked for me on a couple of occasions.
