Re: Farewell
All the best. If my Passat ever blows up I want an ex police Volvo V70 T5 petrol manual estate circa 2004.. My damn Passat just won't die though!!! :esm :esm :esm Cheers mate, now is a good time to sell it and get that Volvo. I got £2500 for mine (it was a good example though and I had done lots of...

Re: Farewell
Had a 240GLE some 30? years ago. Nice car built like a tank. The one i had there was a switch on the gearstick for overdrive. Not the best MPG from it thoe. Managed to bag a manual, so hopefully with good servicing etc it should be OK. Only gonna be a weekend car anyway [emoji16][emoji16] Sent from...

Farewell
Well the time has come for me to leave the VW world behind after 30 odd years. Sold the Passat to a mate, and bought a Volvo 240 GLE with the proceeds. Plan to simply lower it and change the wheels (although as I am a tinkerer by nature that will probably change) It's a great drive, and it's all ori...

I can vouch for the 'On Yer Back' method, as I followed it and added to it. The feeling of accomplishment was worth it, and saving the best part of a grand in labour was definitely worth it.

Re: Heavy/stiff steering passat b5.5 tdi 4motion
The reason I was asking is mine is lowered, and the front always feels a little heavy on steering due to the camber. Even with correct tyre pressure and alignment etc. I will be fitting adjustable camber bushes when funds allow.

Re: Quick Question on Auto windows up/down
Not sure that’s what the OP is referring to. Think it’s the courtesy pack open/close that can be done from outside of the car with the remote key fob. I.e. hold unlock button and the front windows open, hold lock and they close. Course I could be wrong [emoji6] Yes it's this. When pressing unlock, ...

Quick Question on Auto windows up/down
Quick Question. Auto windows down/up with press and hold of unlock/lock button of the remote fob on my Pashat has stopped working after I replaced the cars battery. Any ideas why?

Air Con Help And Advice Needed
My missus has an 09 Touran, we were driving to Santa Pod the other day and noticed that the air con was being a little intermittent. Any advice appreciated as I know it's not a Passat but it will share most of not all parts. For example, it would be blowing out perfect cold air, but at some point it...

As said up there ^ I too have never replaced mine when changing shocks etc. Not saying it's 'correct' but I don't see any reason too.

Re: Oil filter housing seal/gasket ALT engine
I've grabbed my Haynes to check, it's either hand tight for the metal cannister type, or if it's the plastic ones that have the removable filter I'm sure it has the Nm printed on it..
I can see Oil filter cap: 25Nm but this comes under Diesel engine...

Maybe check the metal loop the door catches onto. Mine used to whistle badly, I adjusted the loop catch and it fixed it.

There's a good thread on here somewhere regarding how to do the repair fix, bit fiddly but very much doable at home.

Re: Methods for raising sump/engine
I went adifferent route, I removed the undertray and made a metal sump guard. Works perfectly. Takes the impact of speed humps, lumps on the road, steep driveways and even unexpected objects in the road. Granted, its makes one hell of a noise and the scraping makes people look but my sump is safe. ...

Re: Methods for raising sump/engine
Hey chap
I have used that method on all 4 of my previous Passats without ant issues. I managed to get some spacers machined by a mate a while ago, and I had the diameter increased slightly.
As long as the ARB is the lowest part then it's all good.

Re: Cruise installation
I checked with kufatec, your right it's about £20 for the harness but like £30 for postage but steep, I've got the same harness with the one I bought but I think it has the wrong shape pins as there flat (small spade) kufatec one looks like round pins, I'm thinking I could just splice into the wire...
