DRIVE SHAFT C.V. BOOT SEVERELY DETERIORATED N/S INNER
Unable to see the faulty part, unless the cover shield is removed.
I am in contact with a good mechanic, he has never replaced one before.
Have looked at Youtube for some advice.
Is it a straightforward job?

BATTERY CHARGING
Because the car is used infrequently, I connect a CTEK battery charger when the car is in garage. I usually leave the bonnet slightly ajar to accommodate the leads. This of course activates the bonnet open switch, which I assume prevents the electrical system going into sleep mode. Is it preferable ...

BATTERY QUESTION
Still using the original VARTA 8 year old battery.
No problem in starting.
But... the coloured "tell tale" which should be showing GREEN is showing clear.
Should I now renew the battery, or keep using till it actually shows the usual failing symptoms?

Re: steering lock fault
The major problem, is that the fault is very intermittent, can go several days before fault shows.

I took my car into LEEDS VW as arranged. Still could not obtain a firm positive answer. Was contacted mid afternoon, stating that a fault had been found, and the car would be completed tomorrow. Contacted again at 17:00, car now ready, all four injectors and the wiring loom replaced. VW to cover all...

My car is booked in with VW LEEDS on Mon.am.
They were very vague with this problem.
I now have a case ref. No. but that did not appear to help.

Re: Newbie... some info req.
Thanks for your informative replies.
I have had a look through the Service Schedule book, the last service was 28 May 2009 Oil change at 14,500 Miles.
Long life engine oil used.
Present 31,500 Miles, time for another oil change?
Should a message appear Re. service?
