Re: aux in on a gamma
BTW has anyone thought of a way to illuminate the socket so it can be found in the dark? Thought about putting a little led under it but i think it will be too bright. Any thoughts? Mine is in my glove compartment but routed to my ashtray area with my MP3 pretty much permanently attached, so no. Bu...

Re: what temp should i be seeing?
For my 1.9 Tdi I was reading between 68 and 73c on my Climatronic which meant I wasn't always seeing 90c on the dash. Changed my thermostat and without any heating on, my Climatronic read around 85c and could have possibly gone warmer. I changed my black coolant sensor for the green one prior to the...

Re: what 6000k hids can u recommend
I used hids_direct two years ago for my slimline 4300 kit. Had one ballast swapped for a free replacement as it wasn't igniting everytime. Aside from the faulty one, the kit has been faultless and the service was great. They wanted mine back before they'd send a replacement which was safe for them, ...

Does anyone no if this can be done for a usb port i stead of the 3.5mm With the sum of around £60 you can. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-1998-2003-OEM-Factory-Radio-Stereo-USB-MP3-Memory-Stick-Input-Adaptor-/230672805677?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item35b52baf2d&_uhb=1#ht_2131wt_13...

In that case, I don't know. Never looked at it. But then I've only really pressed the button in the sense of "What does this button do?".

Re: dog button?
It should light up (with the rest of the lit up dash) but the light doesn't indicate anything other than where the switch is in the dark.
Or so I'm led to believe. Mine is always lit when my lights are on.

I'd go with the Silverline oil extractor. It's cheaper than other names and it works perfectly well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silverline-104616-Oil-Fluid-Extractor-Pump-4L-Brand-New-/290753830866?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43b2475fd2&_uhb=1#ht_747wt_1163 The oil canister socket mentione...

Re: temperature gauge won't work
I'm sure that's your problem.
Should you continue with a low reading, albeit a proper reading with the new sensor, it will most likely be the thermostat.

You do surprise me, thought Pela was good quality! Perhaps you just have a duff one? I have the cheaper Silverline version and it works a treat. As said, warm the oil first and it sucks it out fine. The only thing wrong with my cheapy Silverline is the top handle/plunger top fell off, but I stuck it...

Yeah but I lose the use of my CD changer with one of those I think. This mod allows you to still use it. Anyone know what wire I need? Why would you need to keep the changer. My red Golf has a 6 disc changer built into the headunit and a media in socket. I've got around 150 albums on an 8gb memory ...

Re: glow plug control module
The glowplug light on the Passat gives no indication as to the duration the plugs are actually powered up for. Also as said, the glowplugs probably aren't even switching on at the current temperature. The PD engine will easily start without them unless it's insanely cold and even then it may still s...

Re: AUX In on stereo
I had some four core and earth cable that was some sort of A/V interconnect so it kept the wires together and were small and flexible enough. It was just over a metre long so you don't need a great deal. And my socket is inside of my glovebox, but the part that doesn't move. I then have an extension...

Re: Replace the air filter and now no turbo...same symtoms a
If brakes are fine, then I'd imagine the vacuum is fine then. Unless different vac pipes affect different things. I somehow pulled off the 3mm bore rubber pipe to hard plastic tubing on the bulkhead near the fuel lines and I lost boost and my brake pedal took a long time to soften after being presse...

Re: Replace the air filter and now no turbo...same symtoms a
What are your brakes like now you have no boost? Brake 2 or 3 times more than you would normally for a junction to see if the brake pedal goes hard, if it does then you've definitely knocked a vacuum pipe apart. Dead easy to do as I did it to mine once by accident and wondered what the hell I had do...

I changed my rear brake pads a few months back. They were pretty much seized solid, surprised they were working as much as they were. The nearside was the worst, around half of the usable part of the disc was being used. I could or should have replaced the discs but the pads are slowly cleaning them...

Re: why can i never drain much oil?
As said, there's only 4l in the B5.5 1.9TDi some will be stuck to things in there, in oil ways etc, soaked into the filter, in the filter housing, in the cooler below the filter, you'd need a suction device to poke through the hole to get that out and you'll find quite a bit sitting down there and g...

Nice. Glad I passed on the money saving tip of the B5 fan. I routed the cable along the top of the rad shroud and bonnet latch and it looks neat and tidy. Did either of you bother trying to route it back down the bottom of the rad ? Mine is routed over the top of the viscous fan shroud too. Firstly...

Re: Air Con fan broke
I bought mine from carparts4less and paid £42.75 delivered. I crimped my wires with yellow butt connectors. Perhaps my fan is a different make but there was plenty of cable on it and of course, the different two pin connector. The new fan was a lot heavier than the old one and the motor is deeper. ...
