Re: TDI MPG question
My standard 2001 130 TDI saloon averages 45+mpg daily and at around 75mph on a motorway run it goes well into the 50s... always use tesco diesel for the club card points (I must be getting old)

Re: Lowered 15"
I'm sure you're right about psi and I could well be completely wrong... my theory is purely based on visual evidence (and zero scientific explanation), go and look at your car and tell me if the tyre at the top of the wheel is the same size as the tyre at the bottom, touching the road? That's why I ...

Re: Lowered 15"
I agree, if you have a 15" wheel with say for examples sake 2.5" of rubber all the way round that would make the diameter 20" and the radius 10". A 17" wheel with 1.5" rubber all around would be the same diameter and same radius... until you put it on the car. In practi...

Re: Lowered 15"
They will be different, even with the correct tyre size 15s will have more rubber and so the car will sit closer to the floor... I used to have to adjust the ride height on my golf when swapping the 17s for 15" winter wheels ;)

Water in the boot
I've got a bit of water under the boot carpet on my b5.5 saloon. Theres not loads and it seems to be mainly on the passenger side but the carpet underlay soaks it up and spreads it so hard to tell the origin. Im going to check the seals on the rear lights (my old mk3 golf used to leak there) are the...

Removing saloon parcel shelf
I want to take the parcel shelf out of my B5.5 to give it a proper clean, there are a couple of dead bugs between the shelf and the rear screen which are, well, bugging me  I can see 3 black clips in the boot but can't work out how to unclip them or if anything else is holding it in place a...

Re: HID kit... 35w or 50w
Cheers, they only cost about £15 more for 50W so probably worth a go. I haven't seen 5000k anywhere, will look through ebay a bit more, there's so many HID listings I only looked through the first few!

HID kit... 35w or 50w
I've been looking on ebay for an HID kit, I've never bought them before but after a bit of reading have decided on an OE look 4300k temp but some kits are 35w and some 50w... Do I really need 50w or is 35w bright enough?

Re: Highline Value?
Surely if you only bought it 2 weeks ago, you have a pretty good idea of it's value ;)jagr wrote:No. I am on about private sales.
I paid alot more than that for it a couple of weeks ago and don't think anyone will find an '05 Passat tdi estate for £3k.

Re: Carbon Vinyl Wrapping Pics!
Looks really good, I don't really like the net optic trim and my drivers handle is scratched so looking for some ideas. I was planning to either just get black plastic ones or strip the net optics and do them piano black but might give carbon a go instead Does you know if mk4 golf interior door hand...

Re: How to identify a 130PD engine
If its a sport it should have AVF engine, a 6 speed manual 'box(unless auto), sports shock absorbers and lowered springs (look under the car for RED shocks) and also a 3 spoke leather steering wheel (unless it has a 4 spoke steering wheel with multifunction- radio volume, etc.). Sports also had car...

Re: Removing tow bar
Thanks for the replies... seems pretty straight forward, like you say, might just be easier to remove the hitch for now and see how much is visible, I'll ask the previous owner if he's still got the bumper bar ;)

How to identify a 130PD engine
Sound daft but what is the best way to tell between the TDI engines on a B5.5 passat?

Removing tow bar
I've just got a 2001 Passat TDI saloon, pick it up on Saturday, but it has a tow bar that I want to remove.
I haven't looked yet but just wondered if anyone has done it and is it an easy job?
cheers

B5.5 double din dash
I'm just looking at buying a B5.5 130 TDI and am a total noob to the world of passats... I've noticed some have a radio/cassette, aircon & cubby hole in the dash while others have rado/cassette, CD and aircon. Question is if I buy one with the former set up is it easy to change it to the latter?...
