Re: SCRAPING / GRINDING NOISE WHEN ACCERLATING
Have you checked the oil level in the gearbox, could well be very low. Supposed to be checked every 20k or so, but doubt it ever gets done on most as oil is for life and most think it therefore remains at correct level and all will be well Easy enough to check, M16 hollow spline to remove level chec...

Re: Slight vibration at idle, occasional judder when pulling away
Had my 2003 130 AVF sport estate for a few years now, and would make the following comments Tick over can have a light vibration, barely perceptible sometimes, more other times and never really bottomed it mechanically after some 60000 miles, however I do notice that fuel supplier does affect it alt...

Re: Worn 6 speed gearbox linkage repair

Bit of a fiddle to refit the arm, but the part fits the arm and the gearbox selection is like new
There is a good write up on this forum on how to tackle the job, and followed this albeit I didn't remove the gear knob and cover, managed with them in place

Re: Valeo Clutch problem
Just to wrap up this thread Valeo have credited the supplying Motor Factor of their clutch, and I have received some payment towards the labour costs from Valeo, so not entirely sorted but nearly However Valeo still support their design and supply clutches with non-flat cover plate faces, and differ...

Re: Valeo Clutch problem
This is for the design of springs in between friction discs, it's item 12 that has been machined conical by 0.4mm accross the face, in this diagram it's still parallel to flywheel like all other clutches I've seentoonmania wrote:it's got a us patent on the design http://www.google.co.uk/patents/US3587803

Re: Valeo Clutch problem
Yes, that is correct for synchronisation of shafts so that dog clutch can engage a particular pair of gears, but this is quite different. Any Mr. Clutch Fitters out there who might have some info or view?

Re: Valeo Clutch problem
Yes, have learnt the lesson of Supplier, but I'm intreged by the design of a cover plate face that has need for a taper What is the logic, any clutch designers out there or mechanics who fit clutches profeshionally who have come across this feature? I would have doubted the idea of anything but a fl...

Re: Water leak rear passenger foot well
Had this problem, and turned out to be the drain in scuttle, the area between engine and cabin firewalls Take the battery out and have a look at the rubber grommet at the bottom which is supposed to drain, it can block Also in heavy rain it can get overloaded, some have removed it completely so it c...
