Re: URGENT: How can I prime my TDI after a fuel issue?
Update: Okay so I cannot see any chewed wires? I had a friend pop over who is quite mechanically minded and into diesel. He sprayed some easy start into the inlet and the car did fire and splutter and then stop. He reckons it is a fuelling problem. He undid one of the injector nuts and got me to cr...

Re: Problem with 2004 Gearbox
Hi can anyone help me I am trying to find a GGB gearbox for a 2004 Passat 130 TDI. I have lost 4th and love this car. I would love to keep it going. Any help would be appreciated. If you can’t find one, you may be better looking for an FHN. Where abouts are you? I know a good breaker. Sent from my ...

Re: URGENT: How can I prime my TDI after a fuel issue?
Out of curiosity, you have at least checked the timing belt is still on haven’t you matey? I know it would seem coincidental for both that and a leak off line to be broken at the same time but stranger things have happened. Next best thing as I say is to try and start it with something. Brake clean...

Re: URGENT: How can I prime my TDI after a fuel issue?
Update: Okay so had a break in the weather and I have been able to change the diesel filter. The old one didn't look too bad and had clean fuel in it. I filled up the new filter to the brim and refitted. Cranked the engine over after having the ignition key on for 30 seconds and it just refuses to ...

Re: B5 1.9tdi, non starter?
I’d try and start it on brake cleaner if it was mine. The chances of the pump being bone dry aren’t high so it should have plenty of lubrication for a quick start. This should spin it faster and hopefully pull fuel through from the tank.

Re: B5 1.9tdi, non starter?
Okay so progress made.... I checked the engine bay last night in the dark when it wouldn't start but couldn't see an obvious problem? This morning in the daylight I have removed the plastic engine cover and I can see that a rodent has chewed through a fuel pipe (leak off pipe?) It is the one that g...

B5 1.9tdi, non starter?
Hi Thanks for the super rapid reply. What am I actually looking for on the belt? I think it is probably due to be changed we just haven't had the funds and I dread to think how much a French garage would charge us to do it, doesn't the front end of the car have to be removed? Car was running perfec...

Re: B5 1.9tdi, non starter?
Do you have VCDS matey? Glad to see you’ve still got this. First thing to check is timing belt condition etc. Preferably spin the engine by hand to check it all, even a couple of teeth could throw the pump out of time and it won’t run or start. If the belts good, see if it’ll start on easy start. Th...

Finally FINALLY got around to cleaning the ol Trig. Not been washed since November and I think this is the dirtiest it’s ever been in my 9+yr ownership. Took some work but cleaned up well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230302/63c3884708007229fe0e18d32ce379c7.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com...

Minimental Presents, A glutton for Punishment.. My other B5. [emoji23]
Great work! Which of the two is your favourite ride the Audi or Passat and for what reasons? I quite like the look of the 2005 Audi A4 manual petrol estate/ silver with black leather - big hp version Ta man. To be honest, they aren’t really comparable. The Audi is in an entirely different ballpark ...

Well, been a while since I posted so figured I’d stick up what I been on with. Faulty parking sensor
Much appreciated! Be VERY careful removing them. The holding brackets are easy to snap off the valance and then won’t go back on. Bumper removal is simple enough: Torx screws underneath and in rear arches Four bolts in by the taillights and off it slides. Harness plug for the parking system is unde...

I always used to think to myself, if Colin ever sold his car I would definitely buy it. How is he nowadays? His invaluable advice saved me hundreds in the past. I rarely see another b5.5 nowadays on the road. If I do it’s normally an estate but getting rarer everyday. Especially good ones like your...

Definitely a turbo oil seal killer . When required , 20 min actuator wiggle and drive ! What happened to 507.00 :esm I don’t use it anymore tbh bud. I generally stick to 505.01. Seem to remember reading 505.01 was the better oil for PDs and had a higher zinc content or something to that effect. Tho...

Vacume questions and issues.
I’m not sure where your finding vac readings at but in the 14 years I’ve been working on these I’ve never known a PD to have a vac sensor. The loose pump fitting is common on the older LUK tandem pumps, and does cause issues. Some people JB weld it up or similar to seal it, or you can swap to the l...

Hi all so recently bought a 2002 1.9 tdi sport estate. car has been good for me so far, a couple of things that have peaked my interest and confused me a little. this is my first diesel car and as I've come from a 210hp polo 20vT I don't know what one of these would normally feel like so i may be m...
