Chrome Repairer?

Hi All,
I recently got some chrome roof rails for my Passat but on close inspection they are really quite pitted and generally not in good enough condition.
Has anyone managed to repair theres? Any recommendations on products to help? Any re-chromers in Cheshire/Staffordshire?
