standard suspension vs non adaptive sports suspension

was hoping somebody on here that has already test driven both setups and can shed some light perhaps on the differences between both out on the open road ?
I'm talking non adaptive sports suspension perhaps found on the r-line, I see from vw uk when ordering you have the option of adding this to your build on the GT
I would imagine the only difference here is a shortened sports shock with differing damper characteristics along with a shortened stiffer spring.
