Here we go again... Warning lights Engine management

After owning a Tiguan Escape from new in 2010 until December 2015 when we exchanged it for our new Passat Alltrack, we know something about diesel engine gumming up injection systems having had five yes five new Flap Valves fitted which failed every 6-7 months each one after about 4000 miles.

Guess what? Our Alltrack now has 4136 miles covered in 6 months and......on comes the engine warning light....." Particulates Filter Blocked".....!!!!!!!

These VW diesels do not like short journies.....The advice in the handbook is run at at least 43 mph for 15 minutes to burn off the gum up.......or get car to a VW dealer....for investigation.....

This is impossible to do where we live, no motorways no dual track, lots of bends, single track roads......impossible to drive at that speed for 15 minutes.....in fact impossible to drive at 43 miles an hour for more than a couple of minutes here without braking or stopping!

VW and other strangulated emmissions diesel engine makers should say..... Dont use cars for regular short distances...

Life was so much simpler pre all the " save the planet" emmissions paraphernalia...

Our nearest VW dealer is 3 hours drive ( 130 miles ) away.......
