Mode button on 2016 GT doesn’t do anything

I’ve had a 2016 manual GT for a couple of months. It’s got a mode button next to the gear stick, but it doesn’t appear to do anything, other than the orange light coming on briefly when you press it. There’s nothing appears on the infotainment, no menus.
Is there a setting somewhere, or something I can turn on if I can get VCDS connected to it?
