Heater matrix and coolant change on 2.0tdi

Hi folks, hope all is well with your Passats
looks like I'm going to have to change the heater matrix (heating on one side and slow too warm) along with the expansion tank. I think removing the matrix doesn't seem too bad. I am just wondering if I can flush and fill with the help of OBD11 rather than a vacuum kit that has been suggested. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
