Do you use cruise control ?

For the past 15 years all my cars have had cruise control but i've never really used it on a journey.
Yesterday i used it on a 10 mile stretch on the motorway but felt bit weird.
I didn't feel relaxed because it felt like i wasn't in control so still had my feet resting on the accelerator and brake pedal just in case.
Where do you tend to rest your feet ? on the floor or still on the pedals ?
I feel like it would be best using on a long stretch of road where there are no other cars so that i wouldn't need to keep adjusting my speed.
