Musty air con smell

Hi
When I put my air con on it takes your breath away with this musty horrible smell.
I have a B5 passat 20tdi 120Kmiles.
The coolant is still working ok, its just the smell, my son found it hard to breath when it was on.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the smell.
