When my wife bought this 3 year old Passat 12 years ago the key fob range was huge (many meters). Now she changed the battery a few times over the years, but the last time she changed it, the range dropped to about 2" from the windscreen. I've changed the battery since and it is still rubbish. Any one any idea what the hell happened to it for this to happen?
I've swapped the guts into a new fob back end and that made no difference and the PCB looks mint.
