Been having some problem selecting reverse gear on my 130k 6 speed box (2002 passat sport estate diesel 1.9 130bhp.).
When the box and engine is cold it goes in easy, but when its hot, particularly after a motorway run, it's very stiff to get reverse selected, needs a good shove or a couple of attempts. Doubling the clutch doesn't seem to make any difference except I get a gear grinding as it goes in ( not when idling).
The box has never been smooth, alway a bit Notchy since I bought it at 90k, but the reverse gear is a new symptom. The other gears go in no problem.I'm thinking it might need new gearbox oil, linkage adjustement / greasing as a first fix attempt ? Otherwise a new clutch as its still on the original after 130k miles.
If anyone has had this or knows a fix I'd be grateful for any guidance.
