Just went to look at a 53 plate 1.9TDI 4Motion this evening. The car was very good, aside from a couple of minor points. One of which was that the gearbox was exceptionally baggy! By which, I mean, that it didn't want to self centre as such, and was easy to select 3rd instead of 5th or 1st instead of 3rd etc.
The car had done 118k miles, FSH, pulled very well, felt very tight aside from the gearbox. By contrast, my current 51 plate B5.5 1.9TDI Sport (FWD) which has 141k miles on it, has a MUCH nicer feeling gearbox. I've wanted a 4Motion for a while (was originally looking for one when I bought the current car, but couldn't find one for sensible money) so am tempted to get it, but the gearbox would really annoy me, so would need sorting. How much of a job, and how expensive to fix?
Baggy 6 speed Box... Opinions please...
