rear caliper sticking, help please!

rear caliper sticking, help please!
I noticed a week or so ago that my handbrake (lever) felt different. Usually there is tension on it from the start but all of a sudden there has been free movement in it untill around a third up. i jacked the car up in both rear corners and it appears that the drivers rear seems to have slight tension on it even when handbrake off. Does anyone know if its likely to be a sticky cable or caliper.
