I have a b5 1.8t and have bought a used ecu to replace my faulty one. My original ecu has been chipped (actual chip as it's too old for obd flash) so I discussed the work with a tuner and they told me they can solder me a new socket onto my new ecu so I can just swap the chip over, I've just received my new ecu and the socket for my chip just looks like the standard socket for the standard chip... is this the case? There is also a chip in the packet which I assume is the standard one...?
Have they charged me to do nothing but pull the original chip out cos it looks that way to me...?
