Boot stuck closed

The boot on my B5.5 estate stuck shut this morning. Tried it with the key in the lock tonight and I did manage to get in .

I presume the solenoid is at fault because it sounds like this:
Jibawakkka richiyajabawak richttt tick tick .............click and we're in!

It sounds like a squirrel in the electric chair.
Just wanted to share that with you all
