Tdi 130 Problems

Since the cold mornings have come and my car has gone 190,000 mile it has now started to "play up"
These problems may be related just not sure
In the morning when i will use the glow plugs a few times before starting up the car, this works fine if the temp is say -2 as the glow plug light will stay lit for a few seconds but if the temp is about +3 and more the light will go out within a second. It will start but takes a bit more time and i get quite a bit smoke out the back but this will clear up within 100 yards. Car will be fine all day unless its been parked up for many hours.
I'm thinking this is just glow plugs???
Next one is the one i'm more worried about.
It has a habit of losing power, it feels like its off boost when i want to overtake it will shudder a bit and it will pick up and be back to normal but not always. there is no smoke or nasty noises just a loss of power.
Any ideas what to look at would be great.
