Louder Exhaust

HI there
I've recently upgraded to my passat from an old polo, the polo had a little cherrybomb backbox and popped/snarled like there's no tomorrow. So i thought with an extra 700cc a backbox on this 2.0 passat should sound amazing!
From having installed a dual pipe "xtreme sports sound" backbox there is no change in sound and it's been on for months which makes me sad:(
Any ideas on how to make my exhaust sound amazing? Is the middle silencer a problem?
