Hi,
New to the forum so hi everyone, the first of many questions no doubt!
Went to view an '03 TDI 130 sport today and gentlemen selling was kind enough to point out a 'whine' when accelerating that he'd had identified as a differential bearing on it's way out.
He was happy to get it fixed i met full asking price but at a cost to himself of £725 or give me the equivelant in cash off the car (otherwise the car was exactly what I was looking for)
It's done 105k miles and having read a few stories of woe regarding gearbox's just wondering if this is an issue you guys had come across before and therefore something I should let him fix and meet the asking price, steer well clear as the could be the pre-cursur to a larger issue or buy it at knock down price and investigate/fix myself at a later date?
Any suggestions / advice much appreciated,
cheers
jonny
FYI - plans are slam/rim/debadge and generally tidy.
