Egr blanking and turbo clean.

Hello does any knowlegable owners of a tdi 130 Passat know how to clean the turbo without removing it also what are the benefits of blanking the egr. Found a blanking plate with a small whole to stop EML and I will reduce the egr value with vag come just looking for more info on bennefits/possible side effects.
