Contiseal Tyres or not?

Post by barcud »

Hi,
My B7 will need 4 new tyres soon and I currently have original fit Continental SportContact 5 Contiseal 235/40 R18 W (95), three have been replaced and spare is unused - car's done 39k miles now.
I like the way the tyres drive - I've used Continental Sportxxxx for 15 years.
My question is: Would I be better of getting non-Contiseal?
As I see it:
Pros - Hit a piece of wood at 70mph on fast dual carriageway and I was able to stop safely at a layby about a mile on. The rim was bent and the tyre was completely deflated when I stopped.
Cons -
Non-Contiseal
Fuel 'C'
Rain 'A'
Noise 72db
Price abt £120 (fitted).
Contiseal
Fuel 'E'
Rain 'B'
Noise 72db
Price abt £130 (fitted).

So not so good in the wet and uses more fuel
What thoughts? Any other options?
