Boot 12v outlet.

Dissapointed this morning to find the 12v outlet in the boot is on the ignition switch only.
I would have expected it to be a permanent live to feed auxiliaries like a cooler box or charge the 12v battery from a solar panel.
Had anyone rewired it to a permanent live?
