Rumbling noise

Hi, hopefully somebody can help. i have notice a strange rumbling noise which appears to be coming from the rear of the car, its a 2007 2.0 tdi sport. I've have had a look through various posts within this forum and found some similarities but with no real root cause found. The rumbling sound appears intermittent, more noticeable when idling, it's been rumbling for 2 days and then nothing. When it first started it sounded like a moped had pulled up behind me. I thought it may be the Exhaust, but that all seams to be ok. Some people mention the fuel pump and a recall? Does anybody no if there has been any recalls on the fuel pumps?
