loud clang from rear chassis ... 3rd time!?

so as above, slowed on b road to go through floodwaters last winter... loud twang noise from rear... was sure a spring had broken, found 3" section of roadspring in the road.. soon after changed dampers, had MOT, no broken spring found, presumed spring section had been flicked up and hit bottom of car.
6mths+ later, not used car for a week, drive 30 mile to work, slow down at bottom of slip road to join roundabout, 2nd gear walking speed, let off the brake to move off and again CLANG - really loud, nothing on road behind me, no drop in ride height, no lean, no other feedback, nothing untoward detected...
following day, move away from kerb to turn in the road, just edge forward and again CLANG... is this car haunted?! I'll check as best I can visually, but car appears to ride normally, brakes don't seem to be affected either.
any hints?
