B6 Estate tyres

On the replacement B6 Passat estate I bought last year I looked again at the tyres and notice they are 225/45 R17 but all on line sites show 235/45 R17 when I put the Car Reg into their sites. 
Can any one shed some light as to which I should use for replacements but please not too much technical gobbledeegook for my demented brain!
