iphone not recognised on bluetooth

My 2010 2.0 diesel manual Highline will not pair with my iphone 8+ saying the phone is not compatible. The POs phones show up (Nokia C5 and Blackberry 9360) so there is some form of Bluetooth facility. Are there differing Bluetooth modules for different phones? Bit frustrating to say the least so any help or info will be very welcome. Cheers
